Join us in the darkroom to learn how to make your very own albumen prints! This process dates back to 1847, and utilises albumen from egg whites to create wonderfully glossy photographs.
During this workshop, you will learn how to make the albumen mixture, before coating paper, and sensitising with silver nitrate. You will then expose the paper to UV light, to create images from your own negatives, before processing and toning the prints.
The albumen print is beautiful to behold, and this is a rare opportunity to learn how to create them for yourself; a real, tangible link to our shared photographic history!
All materials are provided, but you will need to bring your own negatives to work with.
