Taking the form of a collective which is open for all to join, Prints of Darkness will epitomise all that is so wonderful about the Negative Thinking community, and everyone is invited - there is no requirement to live in Bristol.
Members will be encouraged to make work in diverse ways, utilising whichever processes they choose, their prints then being professionally scanned, archived, and offered for sale online and at art fairs nationwide.
We understand that breaking into the industry and getting paid for making your art is tough, and that is why we have started this initiative; to help you get more from your artwork than just likes on social media.
Prints of Darkness is an initiative that stems from our desire to celebrate the fantastic photographic artwork made by our community.
Every day we see incredible prints being made in our darkrooms, and we think that this hard work deserves recognition.
With this in mind, Prints of Darkness has been created as a way for talented printmakers to come together to exhibit, share knowledge, and sell their wonderful prints online and in person.
It is our belief that everyone is capable of making art, and that everyone should be encouraged to do so. Prints of Darkness will be a safe space for artistic expression and experimentation, where deep engagement with your practice will be the norm.
The collective will meet bi-monthly, either in person at NTHQ or online via zoom. Participation is the only requirement, and there will be opportunities to run meetings, take responsibility for administrative tasks, and to assist in organising exhibitions and events.
If you are interested in becoming a part of Prints of Darkness, please contact us via email at darkroom@negative-thinking.co.uk with POD in the subject line.
We can’t wait to hear from you!
