We are delighted to welcome Sophie Janssens to the team to teach this wonderful practice that she has been working on over the course of 2025. Come join us for a unique morning of creativity!

For this experimental life drawing session will be working with the chemigram process, a cameraless photography technique. We will be using resists (wax and varnishes), which will be applied to photographic paper, then scratched into using a range of tools to create a drawing. Photographic chemicals will be used to create a range tones that will produce the image.

If you are curious about alternative photography processes or looking for new ways to explore life drawing, this session will be perfect for you. However, no previous drawing or photography experience is required as all materials will be provided, as well as direction and support from Sophie.

Sophie Janssens is a Bristol based artist that uses darkroom materials and experimental photographic techniques to create prints. She has been working recently on combining an interest in life drawing with her passion for experimental print making and is excited to share this.

United Models Life Drawing CIC host regular life drawing sessions at Kit Form on Jamaica Street, and collaborate with artists and spaces across Bristol to provide unique life drawing experiences.

Please note your creations will have to wash and dry, so if you intend to take them with you on the day, please bring an appropriate folder or box and hang them once you get home.
