Join us on an exploration of the surreal, as we get to know the Sabattier effect!

This incredible printing method is a pseudo-solarisation effect caused by exposure of a partially developed print to light, resulting in inverted tonality; making your image appear as a positive and a negative at the same time!

First observed in 1859 by Henri de la Blanchere, and perfected by Man Ray and Lee Miller, the process creates wonderfully surreal, dramatic imagery, that is truly exciting to see. Every print is different, and the effect can be controlled and manipulated to great lengths, offering the creative printer or artist a useful addition to their darkroom repertoire.

This workshop is accessible to beginners and seasoned printers alike. All materials are included, just bring your negatives.
