Our 2025 Open Call is now live!
This is an event we are so looking forward to; the heart of what we want to do at Negative Thinking - celebrate the incredible work that is being made here at NTHQ by the people that are learning and printing here. Whether you are an artist learning a new discipline, a photographer at the start of your printing journey, or a beginner who has fallen in love with a particular alternative process, we want to celebrate you and your dedication to the darkroom, which in turn has meant you have supported us as a business.
The only criteria for submissions is that the print exists as a material object and has been made here at Negative Thinking. We will allow up to 3 submissions per artist and it is FREE!
All selected artists are asked to pay £5 per selected work to go towards exhibition costs and a fun opening night!
Deadline for submissions has been extended to 9th May 2025!
The exhibition will take place in June 2025. Prints will be selected at the end of April to give participants the month of May to frame their work. All selected works must be framed.
Please make submissions to darkroom@negativethinkingcic.co.uk with a digital file. Please include the subject line Darkness Calling Submission, and in the body of the email include:
your name
title of the print
size
process used
year that the print was made
if you would like your work to be for sale please state the price or alternatively write NFS (not for sale). For those that are unsure, please state this. We are happy to offer advice with the pricing of your work.
Negative Thinking will take 20% commission on all sales.
As the exhibition will be on other premises separate to NTHQ, we ask all selected artists to invigilate for half a day, mainly on weekends when we have workshops.
